WEEKEND SERVICE COORDINATOR

Be part of the solution to homelessness at HOPE Adult Shelter and HOPE Recuperative Shelter.

HOPE provides safe and judgement-free shelter, innovative programs and public advocacy to end homelessness.

Position: Full time or Part-time SERVICE COORDINATOR

Reports to: Shelter Manager

Weekend Shifts – but other shifts are also available.

General Responsibilities

• Coordinators help shelter guests settle into the shelter and understand how the shelter functions
• Coordinators help shelter guest connect with supportive services inside the shelter (shower schedules, toiletry distribution, medical triage, etc.)
• Coordinators help with meal prep or distribution
• Coordinators work with the Shelter Manager and volunteers to ensure that the basic needs of each guest are met
• Coordinators help supervise guests serving on voluntary service projects
• Coordinators document any service-delivery provided via case notes and incident reports.
• Coordinators implement programming for guests and volunteers

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements – one of the following:

1. two years of college in a human service field; or
2. two years of employment in a shelter, mental health agency or adult foster care setting; or
3. mental health training (peer support, mental health tech, etc.); or
4. health training (EMT, CNA, RN etc.).

SKILLS: Ability to handle multiple co-occurring tasks and situations; ability to firmly and politely delegate roles and responsibilities among volunteers and guests (sometimes during tense situations); ability to make quick, but effective, decisions; comfort with speaking in front of a group; basic computer skills and ability to quickly learn web-based software.

Job Type: Part-time or Full-time Salary: Starting at $13.00 /hour

HOPE successfully uses an abundance of caution to keep the shelter virus free. New guests are first sent to an isolation shelter. There has been no spread of the virus inside the main shelter.
