Job Description:

A family in rural Midwest seeks a skilled and experienced Houseman/Groundsman to assist in the daily maintenance, upkeep and care of their residence,
including the interior and exterior of all structures and amenities on their multi acre property. This position consists of a five-day flex workweek, with flexibility for early or late hours as needed and requested. The ideal candidate will possess the initiative and discernment to identify and prioritize tasks on property and oversee to completion. Must be capable of working independently while also contributing effectively to a team environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing all elements of household management and maintenance throughout the residence, both in and outside the home
• Performing general household repairs (changing light bulbs, screens in spring and fall, etc.)
• Running errands, procuring and organizing supplies
• Liaising with contractors & vendors; serving as gatekeeper to the family, in conjunction with the House Manger
• Bringing in and out trash, sorting recycling, keeping trash areas clean and sanitary
• Cleaning and organizing the garage, mopping the floor, keeping all shelves tidy and organized, keeping storage areas organized and clean
• Preparing outdoor seating areas and furniture, ensuring decks and patios are kept clear at all times
• Daily Setup and breakdown of the pool areas and outdoor seating areas
• Cleaning windows and sills
• Keeping gates and fences clean and driveway clear of debris
• Maintaining vehicles, automobiles, and equipment
• Snow and leaf removal
• Unclogging of pipes, seasonal window and gutter cleaning
• Event set-up, break-down and some service if required
• Additional residence and hospitality-related tasks and responsibilities as needed and upon request

Requirements:

• Fluent in English; exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Minimum 2-3+ years related experience
• Ability to perform general household maintenance and assessments required
• Exceptional organization skills and multitask management
• Incredibly “hands-on” and able to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a positive team environment
• Strong knowledge in all areas of property maintenance and management including complex smart home systems (i.e. lighting, heating and cooling, security, etc.)
• Must be tech-savvy and adept in using both mac and PC platforms
• Willingness and ability to seamlessly work with the grounds staff
• General knowledge of methods, materials, and practices used to maintain grounds as well as ability to undertake general landscape duties
• Knowledge of farm techniques/practices a PLUS
• Must be physically able to bend, kneel, walk, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. at a time
• Discreet with the ability to always maintain a high level of confidentially
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
• Legally able to work in the United States
