    Position Summary

    The Human Resources Generalist will run the daily function of the HR operations department including new hire orientation, benefits, leave management, coordination of state unemployed and worker compensation programs. This role includes enforcing company policies and practices as well as monitoring employee relations environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • The position has no direct reports. May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of day-to-day Human Resource activities-unemployment, employee concerns, safety, benefits, and legal/regulatory requirements.
    • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, company policy/process certification and training.
    • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
    • Conducts/Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
    • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
    • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
    • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HR and Payroll systems
    Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
    • Maintains basic knowledge of legal requirements in US (especially California and Washington state) related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance, while escalating to supervisor when legal consultation is needed/required.
    • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
    • Work in conjunction with vendors to assist with managing benefit enrollment, employee leave programs and 401K.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
    • SHRM-CP a plus.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
