    Position Overview

    The HR Generalist will be based in our San Antonio, TX office and provide support across multiple locations, including Austin, New Braunfels, and Laredo. The role requires a high level of technology proficiency, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities under pressure. You will be responsible for handling employee relations, compliance, recruitment, and ensuring smooth HR operations in line with the company’s goals and culture. This position requires local travel between the various offices and project sites in the region.

    Travel: Local travel as required to support satellite offices in Austin, New Braunfels, and Laredo.

    Team: The HR Generalist will be part of a team of six HR professionals across the division, participating in bi-weekly HR group calls and collaborative projects.

    Reports To: General Manager and Director, Human Resources

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Employee Relations: Address employee concerns in a proactive and professional manner. Assist managers and employees in resolving workplace issues, ensuring a positive work environment.

    Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action requirements.

    Recruitment & Onboarding: Support hiring managers in recruitment efforts, including screening candidates, conducting interviews, and overseeing new hire onboarding processes. Partner with an internal recruiter for ongoing hiring efforts.

    HR Administration: Oversee day-to-day HR functions, including payroll administration, benefits, and leave management. Ensure accurate documentation and employee record-keeping.

    Training & Development: Facilitate employee development programs, including overseeing a very active DOL-Registered apprenticeship training program and State of TX craft licenses.

    Culture & Change Management: Help implement changes in the organization while being mindful of an established workforce. Foster an inclusive and collaborative company culture.

    Technology Proficiency: Utilize Excel for data analysis and reporting. Ensure the efficient use of HR technology systems to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.

     

     

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    Experience: 5+ years of recent experience in an HR Generalist role or similar position.

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field.

    Certifications: PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification preferred. Willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire.

    Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and HR systems.

    Excellent knowledge of employment laws and regulations (EEOC, NLRA, etc.).

    Ability to handle high-pressure situations and adapt quickly to changing environments.

    Cultural Fit: Ability to work effectively with a long-tenured team that may be resistant to changes in long-established processes. The role requires someone mature, confident, and capable of fostering relationships in a well-established environment.
