    Position Overview

    FACE is seeking a full-time HUD-Certified Housing Counselor to join its Housing Team. The Housing Counselor is responsible for providing a full range of client services for financial education, first-time home buying, and foreclosure prevention programs. This role includes group education workshops, seminars, and individualized guidance. The Housing Counselor will report directly to the Director of Operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Case Management: Coordinate and conduct case management, training, and outreach for housing counseling and homebuyer education.

    Group Education: Conduct group education on financial literacy, home buying, and foreclosure prevention.

    One-on-One Counseling: Conduct individual sessions with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit information, determine customer financing objectives, and assess mortgage readiness.

    Delinquency Counseling: Assist delinquent homeowners in evaluating opportunities through various foreclosure prevention programs.

    Networking: Develop and maintain a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new clients.

    Program Knowledge: Maintain current knowledge of industry program requirements pertaining to financial literacy, homeownership, and foreclosure prevention.

    Data Management: Enter client details into the Client Management System (Mpact Pro), create and document cases and sessions, and maintain client documents in ShareFile.

    Documentation: Gather and evaluate documentation needed to assess creditworthiness and eligibility for mortgage loan products and down payment assistance.

    Client Relationships: Maintain positive and effective relationships with clients and program stakeholders.

    Outreach and Marketing: Promote housing counseling services through community outreach and marketing efforts.

    Grant Reporting: Assist in gathering data and preparing reports for grant compliance and funding purposes.

    Training and Development: Stay updated with HUD guidelines and attend required training to maintain HUD certification.

    Impact Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling sessions and educational workshops through surveys and feedback to inform future improvements.

    Collaboration: Work with other departments and external partners to ensure comprehensive service delivery.

    Technology Utilization: Utilize technology and software tools to enhance service delivery and client tracking.

    Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and FACE's policies and procedures.

    Other Duties: Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as required.

    Qualifications

    Education: HUD-Certification for Housing Counseling (Certificate or other proof of certification required).

    Experience: Previous experience in housing, lending, or real estate industry preferred.

    Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.

    Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of people and organizations.

    Ability to plan, prioritize, and follow through within deadlines and case management.

    Attention to detail and accurate data input.

    Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Passion for service and strong desire to grow.

    Preferred: Bilingual in English/Korean or English/Spanish.

    Networking skills and contacts with industry professionals a plus.

    Working Conditions

    Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings.

    Must be able to travel for meetings, conferences, and site visits.

    Requires frequent use of computers and the ability to review detailed documents.

    Physical ability to lift and move up to 25-30 pounds.

    Travel: Must be able to travel to events and community meetings. Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
