  POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Design Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of engineering work in designing, layout/detail drafting, evaluating product designs/ manufacturing methods, and assuring the product can be reliably produced.  This position will be based out of the Farmers Branch, TX (Dallas) office location.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and develop products to meet customer needs, both in new product development and product variation requests.
• Manage development and product improvement projects from concept through production using six sigma tools.
• Work with teams in all aspects of design and manufacturability.
• Review progress and evaluate results, make changes in processes, design or equipment where necessary.
• Lay-out designs based on engineering discussions, stack-ups and tolerance; create detail and assembly drawings.
• Generate BOMs and review for accuracy.
• Maintain drawing accuracy within the CAD area.
• Conduct engineering research.
• Enter orders and assist in shop drawings.
• Lead teams to implement process improvements.
• Occasional travel domestically and internationally for various projects as needed. 
• All other duties as assigned.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of mechanical/manufacturing design, including design for six sigma. 
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including process improvement techniques.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Strong communication skills and interactive capabilities (manufacturing areas).
• Proven leadership skills.
• Willing and able to make decisions when required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
• Willing to be flexible to work on varying tasks.
• Ability to interact and influence others in a positive manner.                                                               
• Ability to work with power tools and equipment.

 MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Four-year engineering degree required.
• Minimum of two to five years of product engineering experience.
• Proficiency in 3D drawing software, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Pro-E , 3ds Max, etc.
