    Position Overview:

    The HVAC Senior Technician will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of HVAC control systems within the facilities. The role involves reviewing utility and energy data, troubleshooting HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control issues, and assisting in commissioning projects to improve building efficiency. The technician will also contribute to various energy conservation and preventive maintenance initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assist in HVAC controls design and submittal reviews.

    Analyze utility and energy usage data to identify facilities for recommissioning and retro-commissioning.

    Review EMS and energy data, and alarms to pinpoint no-cost/low-cost energy conservation measures.

    Identify preventive maintenance measures using EMS, energy data, and alarms.

    Conduct site visits to investigate "as-built" conditions on identified projects.

    Implement no-cost/low-cost solutions for EMS systems at existing school sites.

    Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.

    Respond to basic warranty calls.

    Calibrate HVAC systems using basic electronic test equipment.

    Assist in managing In-House Commissioning Projects.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Required Experience:

    A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in building controls or a related field.

    Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

    Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC maintenance issues.

    Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.

    Required Education:

    Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology), OR

    A two-year technical degree in HVAC or Electronics-related studies with an additional two (2) years of experience to compensate for education on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with multiple controls manufacturers including Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane.

    Proven ability to debug installation issues during static and dynamic start-up phases.

    Experience supporting installation personnel and contractors on project sites.

    Extensive experience in performing or assisting in the commissioning of EMS systems.

    Skills and Abilities:

    Strong troubleshooting skills related to HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

    Ability to communicate effectively with both technical staff and contractors.

    Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment for HVAC system calibration.

    Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.

    Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
