Position Summary:
The HVAC Spiral Duct Forming Machine Operator / Duct Fabrication Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining spiral duct forming machines and other equipment used in the fabrication of HVAC ducts. The role involves measuring, cutting, forming, and assembling ductwork to precise specifications, ensuring high-quality products and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
Operate spiral duct forming machines to produce ductwork according to specifications.
Set up and adjust machine settings for different sizes and types of ducts.
Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
Duct Fabrication:
Measure and cut metal sheets or coils to required dimensions.
Form and assemble duct sections using appropriate tools and equipment.
Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
Report any major issues or malfunctions to the supervisor for further action.
Quality Control:
Conduct inspections of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
Maintain accurate records of production and quality checks.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Adhere to company policies and industry standards for HVAC duct fabrication.
Inventory Management:
Keep track of materials and supplies, reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
Assist in maintaining an organized and clean work area.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HVAC or metal fabrication preferred.
Experience in operating spiral duct forming machines or similar equipment.
Knowledge of HVAC duct systems and fabrication processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy materials.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic math skills for measuring and cutting materials.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.
May be exposed to loud noises, dust, and varying temperatures.
Requires standing for long periods and handling heavy materials.
