    The HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of all equipment used for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, building refrigeration and split/packaged systems equipment. This includes operations of a central heating plant utilizing steam and/or hot water for tempering or heating building, and a central chilled water plant to provide cooling to building. Refrigerated equipment includes but is not limited to walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in coolers and ice machines. You will be required at times to be available for emergency (equipment/system failures) shifts at any campus buildings where needed. Provides excellent customer service to create a comfortable environment at all campuses.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Installs, repairs and services heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems
    • Monitors, trouble shoots, and make necessary program adjustments to computerized systems.
    • Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures and identify necessary comprehensive repairs and solutions.
    • Replace or change bearings on fan systems, motors and shafts
    • Contribute to the effective team management of all problems, issues and opportunities
    • Acts as a team player and provides expertise within the team and with other teams as appropriate
    • Perform other activities as necessary

    Your Qualifications:

    • HVAC license
    • Seven or more years' residential/commercial/industrial experience
    • Valid drivers' license
    • High school diploma or GED required

    Special Skills:

    • Proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for preventative maintenance and work order program management.
    • Proficient with Computer operation for use on our energy management system. Must be able to set equipment trends to monitor energy consumption
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
    • Complete and facilitate installation of HVAC systems
    • Capable of operating a variety of hand and power tools
    • Good communication skills and must be capable of working without direct supervision
    • Must be able to work from a ladder, lifts and rooftops
    • Ability to learn locations of all HVAC equipment and how they relate to each building
    • Ability to run and maintain the chiller plant to control temperatures
    • Must be familiar with cooling tower operations and repair potential problems

    Physical/Environmental:

    • Frequently works above and below grade level and in crawls or confined spaces
    • Heavy lifting, 75-100 pounds
    • Frequently exposed to extremes of weather and adverse environmental conditions
