The Wellness and Mental Health program is a hub for community education, training, emotional wellness and promotion. The Hub is charged with increasing emotional wellness literacy, reducing stigma, promoting healthy stress management and trauma-informed practice within constituents and programs of the Harlem Children’s Zone.
We are seeking a WELLNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH MANAGER to oversee all functions of The Hub. The Manager will be responsible for facilitating, streamlining, and managing the Emotional Wellness program, which will impact all programs within the Zone. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health promotion theory and evidence-informed practice, and the ability to translate and apply theory to a diverse population. The Wellness and Mental Health Manager will be well-versed in mental health needs and interests and well-informed in child development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree required in Public Health, Mental Health/Counseling, Social Work or closely related field
Minimum two to three years’ experience in providing direct services in an educational, social service or non-profit environment
Demonstrated experience working with children and adults in underserved urban communities of color
Familiarity with socio-cultural factors (e.g., racism, toxic stress, etc.) that contribute to health disparities in diverse communities
Expertise in informed practice, mental health content, including but not limited to: alcohol and other drugs, eating disorders, relationships, domestic violence, depression and other emotional wellness topics
Dedicated to providing positive outcomes for HCZ children, families, and staff
Competence in creating and facilitating Wellness and Mental Health workshops to diverse constituents
Knowledge in Community-Based Health Programming and Wellness Campaigns
Understanding of student development theory, engagement and high impact best practices
Strong leadership and management skills
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Superior organizational skills and able to complete multiple tasks accurately and in a timely manner
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook; ability to learn new databases
Available to work some evenings and weekends
