Nowhere Bakery is a woman-founded, premium dessert company based in Costa Mesa, CA. We specialize in crafting allergen-friendly, gut-healthy desserts that taste just as good as they are for you. We’re on a mission to change the way people think about indulgence by providing treats that cater to dietary needs without sacrificing quality or flavor.
As we continue to grow, we're looking to add a Head Baker to our small but dynamic team. This role is integral to helping us scale our production, while maintaining our high standards and fostering a collaborative work environment.
What You’ll Do:
Production Leadership: Oversee daily baking operations, from prep and mixing to baking and packaging, ensuring the team meets production targets efficiently.
Team Coordination: Collaborate closely with packers and other team members to streamline production and maintain a seamless workflow.
Quality Control: Ensure all products are produced consistently and uphold our high-quality standards.
Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, place weekly supply orders, and coordinate bi-weekly supply pickups.
Equipment Operation: Operate commercial baking equipment, such as depositor machinery and ovens, and train team members on safe and effective usage.
Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment, following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
Scheduling & Reporting: Track production schedules, prepare baking mixes, and ensure all operations are well-documented and reported.
Who You Are:
Experienced Leader: You have 2-3 years of baking experience and at least 1 year in a kitchen management role, where you led and developed a team.
Detail-Oriented: You have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality. You can spot inconsistencies and correct them quickly.
Proficient with Numbers: You’re comfortable using Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools to track production data and create formulas for inventory management.
Self-Starter: You take initiative and can work autonomously. You’re proactive and can anticipate the needs of the kitchen.
Problem-Solver: You’re great at troubleshooting and finding solutions quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Physically Capable: Ability to lift and move heavy bags of flour (up to 50 lbs). Having a reliable vehicle is a plus for supply pickups.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of gluten-free or paleo baking techniques.
Cake decorating experience.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Understanding of current baking trends and food safety standards.

Salary: $47,000 per year
