    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Serves as the Head Provider for the Women’s Health Division, supervising all other providers and clinical support staff within the Division, and is responsible for developing and building the Women’s Health Division throughout the organization’s service delivery system. The Head of the Women’s Health Division will consist of 90% clinical patient face-to-face time and 10% administrative time.

    Performs history and physical examinations, including history of births and other present illnesses, review of systems, past medical history, drug allergies, surgeries, and hospitalization.

    Orders routine and diagnostic lab and x-ray studies based on clinical guidelines and medical judgment.

    Diagnoses acute and chronic illness based on clinical findings, laboratory, ultrasounds, and x-ray reports and/or the results of other diagnostic procedures according to approved protocols.

    Explains treatment and counsels patients and families in a culturally sensitive manner by providing parenting and general healthcare education regarding women’s health.

    Formulates, initiates and monitors patient management plans for obstetrical patients using protocols as appropriate.

    Performs obstetrical/gynecological procedures approved through credentialing and privileging. Refers to obstetrical patients requiring hospitalization or assessment and management of conditions to other partnering providers, emergency department physicians, or appropriate specialists.

    Obtains hospital privileges and performs deliveries.

    Performs general obstetric and gynecological surgical procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic, using both minimally invasive and traditional surgical techniques such as colposcopies and other inpatient procedures as appropriate.

    Oversees the Family Planning Program and ensures Title X requirements are being met by clinical staff.

    Maintains all patient data in the electronic medical record system to comply with required standards, and review records regularly and promptly.

    Networking and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to provide pregnant women with comprehensive care.

    Participates in the Peer Review.

    Participates in health promotion/disease prevention activities. Stresses the importance of preventive health care measures.

    Develops and maintains working relationships with collaborative clinical partners, including healthcare institutions community-based organizations; and private and public businesses that promote the mission and goals of HEAL.

    Assume any other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

    Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.

    Must have current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.

    Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card.

    Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

    Experience in working in a community health center is desirable but a high level of interest in community medicine is acceptable instead of experience.

    Knowledge and understanding of the health care norms and pathology in practice as an Obstetrics and Gynecology Practitioner and the ability to apply this knowledge in direct patient care.

    Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills, detail-oriented and efficient required.

    EDUCATION:

    Licensed Physician within the obstetrics and gynecology medical discipline;

    Ability to Meet FQHC, Federal, State, and Local Credentialing and Privileges Requirements before hiring.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

    General office/clinic conditions are pleasant; good, clean working conditions where accidents and hazards are negligible; may require moderate lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 10 pounds. Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with staff, patients, and the public.
