Health, Safety and Environment Specialist **
Location:** New York, NY. **
Hours:** Monday- Friday (8:30am- 5:00pm). **
Salary:** $115,000 – $125,000 USD per annum + up to 10% bonus.
Position Overview:
VitalCheck Wellness invites applications for a seasoned Health, Safety & Environment Professional with advanced ergonomic experience to elevate our global wellness initiatives and implement existing Health, Safety and Environment protocols. This role is integral to our partnership with a prestigious asset management firm headquartered in New York City. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a culture of health and safety within a dynamic corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ergonomics Program: Execute local onsite ergonomic assessments and provide expert guidance on ergonomic adjustments, postural corrections, and equipment implementation to alleviate musculoskeletal discomfort among employees.
- Health & Safety Strategy: Execute robust Health, Safety and Environment protocols applicable across the firm's international locations at their headquarters office in Manhattan, NY.
- Risk Management: Perform meticulous Job Hazard Analyses, assessing tasks and introducing new equipment or processes while mitigating potential safety hazards.
- Wellness Advocacy: Empower and educate employees on the benefits available to them that contribute to their holistic well-being.
- Safety Compliance: Engage in rigorous internal safety audits and inspections, ensuring swift implementation of remedial measures to resolve audit discrepancies and uphold stringent safety benchmarks.
Qualifications:
- Educational Attainment: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred and 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Certifications: NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Foundation Certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Ergonomics certification (Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS), Workplace Ergonomics Specialist (WES), or similar).
- Professional Experience: A minimum of five years' experience working in Public health or Health, Safety and Environment, with a preference for candidates possessing corporate safety experience.
- Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency in workplace ergonomics, public health, and occupational health and safety and assistive technology.
- Technical Proficiency: Competence with digital tools, including Microsoft Office suite and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems or health-related case management systems.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Autonomy: Capacity to operate independently, exhibiting initiative and minimal need for direct supervision.
- Location: Reliable ability to commute to our New York City office a minimum of four days a week.
