We are seeking a dedicated Student Health Technician to support DC Public Schools (DCPS). This temp-to-hire position offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent role based on performance and program needs.
As a Student Health Technician, youβll work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to assist in providing essential health services to students. You'll play a key role in creating a safe, healthy, and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
π©Ί Assist in developing and implementing individualized healthcare plans under RN/LPN guidance. π¬ Perform screenings (height, weight, vision, hearing) and record vital signs. π Administer first aid and medications, ensuring adherence to school health protocols. π‘ Provide basic care and assist in specialized treatments as directed by the nurse. π¦ Maintain inventory of medical supplies for the school health office. π Communicate with parents, students, and school staff to ensure proper care and documentation. π Respond to emergencies, provide immediate care, and coordinate with staff for student safety. β οΈ Document incidents, injuries, and suspected child abuse, ensuring timely reporting for student welfare.
What Weβre Looking For:
π Experience:
2+ years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting (community health, ambulatory care, inpatient, or school health).
Preferred: 1+ year of experience working with pediatric or school-aged children.
π Certifications Required: β Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - (DC, MD, or VA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or EMT. β Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association). β Pediatric First Aid certification (American Heart Association).
π¬ Additional Skills: β Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. β Keen attention to detail in monitoring student health and reporting concerns. β Team player with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting. β Knowledge of school health policies and mandated health screenings.
