SUMMARY

The Bilingual Interpreter & Outreach Assistant supports the COVID-19 immunization efforts by interpreting and communicating in Spanish for patients and staff, and assisting with immunization and community outreach.

• THIS IS A 9-MONTH, TEMPORARY POSITION THAT MAY WORK A SET SCHEDULE THAT IS BETWEEN 20-40 HOURS PER WEEK, BASED ON THE EMPLOYEE’S AVAILABILITY. 
• MUST BE PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides interpretation between parties using Spanish-English languages; Seeks clarification on issues to ensure interpretation is correct
• Assist in communication between provider and patients during patient visits and  following the patient’s vaccine while patient is being observed for symptoms 
• As required, writes letters/notes for patients in Spanish
• Participates in community outreach to inform and educate about COVID-19 and immunizations in English and Spanish
• Provides educational information and encouragement to patients about COVID-19 vaccine, in English and Spanish
• Travels to outreach sites and clinics within Fayette County to assist with vaccinations
• Explains health center resources, office protocols, and limitations to clinicians and patients, in English and Spanish
• Performs clerical and administrative duties pertaining to vaccine administration and registration
