    About the Organization and the Job:

    Heart of Hope Asian American Hospice Care is a non-profit startup Hospice licensed by California state since 2016. We are looking for a part-time Bookkeeper to join our growing team in San Jose, California. The bookkeeper will come to the San Jose office 12-16 hours per week. It offers a unique opportunity to work with a team that is passionate in providing end-of-life care to the under-served community in the Silicon Valley Area.

    High-level Job Description

    The part-time Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the transaction accounting and asset accounting functions of the organization including general ledger management, accounts payable management, payroll accounting, and financial reporting. Responsible for providing ad-hoc project management support to the operation and control of our Hospice organization. Reports to the Administrative Manager.

    Responsibilities

    Manages all daily accounting operations and accounting information systems including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll accounting, asset accounting and financial reporting.

    Protects the assets of the organization through effective internal controls, internal auditing, and direct supervision of accounting operations.

    Manages and controls cash disbursements through an effective accounts payable system.

    Prepares and files periodic financial statements for management.

    Assists the Administrator and Administrative Manager in the preparation of the annual Medicare cost report.

    Assists in administrative tasks such as answering calls and preparing mails as needed.

    Provide requested information to the CPA for our annual tax filing review.

    Prepares all requested documentation for annual internal and external audits.

    Maintains patient and organization confidentiality at all times.

    Formalize/document procedures and controls to ensure organizational compliance with accounting and regulatory requirements; develop/document operating and accounting procedures.

    Monitor business operations and financial/accounting practices are adhering to the control procedures.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business Management.

    Must be proficient in QuickBooks Online and Desktop

    At least three (3) years experience as a bookkeeper or accountant that has managed serveral clients before, preferably in health care accounting management.

    Knowledge of corporate business management, governmental regulations and CHAP standards.

    Must have excellent customer service skills and communication skills both verbal and written

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

    Must be able to maintain confidential information and able to work in a fast-paced environment; meet deadlines and set priorities

    Ability to communicate with all levels of Managers, Directors, Peers, and Volunteers effectively

    Must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
