    Summary:

    Our award-winning client is seeking a Heat Treat and Lab Metallurgist to join their team! The Heat Treat and Lab Metallurgist is responsible for ensuring product quality through metallurgical expertise and analysis. This role involves supporting quality and engineering departments, conducting failure analysis, managing customer claims, verifying welding processes, and defining heat treatment conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of metallurgical principles, technical writing skills, and experience in steelmaking.

    Responsibilities:


    • Provide expert metallurgical advice and support to quality and engineering teams.

    • Investigate internal failures and manage customer claims through root cause analysis.

    • Verify and control welding processes to ensure adherence to standards.

    • Define and optimize heat treatment conditions for various products.

    • Review and validate final product compliance to specifications.

    • Participate in internal and external audits to assess quality systems.

    • Train and coach operators on key metallurgical processes and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.

    • Collaborate with engineers to identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality performance.

    Required Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in steelmaking or a similar manufacturing environment.

    Required Skills and Knowledge:


    • Strong understanding of metallurgical principles, particularly related to steelmaking.

    • Ability to write clear and concise technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

    • Familiarity with welding processes and their metallurgical implications.

    • In-depth knowledge of heat treatment processes for stainless and carbon steels.

    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with technical and non-technical audiences.

    • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments.

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve quality issues.

    • Ability to work independently and achieve results through self-motivation and coaching others.

    $90,000 per year
