    Job Description

    Reporting to the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center’s President, and partnering closely with several Hebrew Seniorlife (HSL) and Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (HRC) managers, the Vice President of  Rehabilitation Services Units (RSU) and HRC New Bridge Operations (Ops) , will hold the ultimate responsibility for the operations of the RSU, known as skilled nursing facilities, located at NewBridge (NB) and Roslindale.

    The patients receive care in the RSUs where short term rehab and medical care is offered to patients being discharged from an acute care setting. The health care services at NB is home to 220 long-term care beds, including a specialized dementia care households, 48 SNF beds, several outpatient clinics, variety of wellness programs and approximately 450 employees.  The health care services at Roslindale is home to 405 long term chronic care beds, including (2) specialized dementia units, 50 SNF beds, 50 medical care unit beds, several outpatient clinics, an adult day health program and approximately 900 employees. The patients receive care in HRC’s ‘household model of care’ where patient’s choice, independence and dignity are the core values that determine how care and services are delivered by employees.  

    The Vice President is responsible for assuring the delivery of high level facility support services and maintaining compliance with HRC NB long-term chronic hospital regulations specifically associated with the environment of care.

    Reporting to the Vice President: RSU Directors of Nursing, Director of Finance and Supply Chain, Senior Director of Post-Acute Transitions of Care, Executive Assistant.

     Key collaborative relationships: Executive Directors of NB IL, NB AL and HCBS, NB Directors of campus shared services, HRC ACNO, HRC NB Medical Director, HRC VP Rehab, HRC VP Patient Access, NB Director of Human Resources, HSL CQO

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Assure compliance with all state and federal regulations for both the hospital and skilled nursing facility licenses and lead onsite surveys by all accrediting agencies included but not limited to MA DPH, CARF, and CMS.
    • Creating the highest quality of life for the patients by continuously developing and implementing appropriate and necessary policies, programs and activities.
    • Regular interaction with patients and their families on the RSU to obtain feedback, resolve concerns, and provide a high-level of customer service.
    • Promote and support employee engagement through numerous vehicles including but not limited to the GPS process, ROCKS, rounding and communication forums.
    • Managing the overall financial performance of the HRC NB LTCH and (2) RSUs keeping with HRC’s goals and objectives.  Meeting census, revenue and expense targets. Budget oversight projected $65M.
    • Coordinating the delivery of services from campus shared service departments such as food services, security, housekeeping and laundry with the leadership of those departments.
    • Overseeing CQI programs for clinical and non-clinical operations of the RSUs in partnership with other key staff.
    • Representing HRC - NB at a variety of external health-care and long-term care forums.
    • Participate with HSL leaders in identifying growth opportunities specific to ACO agreements, skilled nursing facility relationships, partnerships and/or consolidations.
    • Serve as a preceptor for interested candidates qualifying for nursing home administrator Admin-in-Training (“AIT”) program
    • Leading efforts to coordinate activities with other HSL entities on the NB campus.
    • Responsible for contractual relationships with vendors that include however not limited to ambulance, supply chain.
    • Work with the President, HRC to set goals and objectives.  Translate and ‘operationalize’ objectives into action plans.
    • Staff and present to appropriate Board committees.
    • Embrace HSL’s cultural beliefs and respect for its philosophy.
    • Other related duties.

     Qualifications:

    • Current MA Nursing Home license required
    • BA/BS, in health care management or related field.  Master’s degree strongly preferred
    • 5-10 years of management experience within complex healthcare or long-term care organizations
    • Minimum of 5 years related experience in senior care
    • Proven experience managing large numbers of staff, sizeable budgets, and working within complex organizations
      • Established track record of working within changing environments
