    Job Summary:

    Henry Ford Academy is seeking a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional to join our dedicated team of educators. This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The Special Education Paraprofessional will assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher. The Paraprofessional will assist the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, and care for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.

    Key Responsibilities:

    ● Co-teach lesson components, as determined by the teacher, by leading small-group and individual discussions and reviewing classwork.

    ● Provide instructional reinforcement of lesson plans, under direction of the classroom teacher.

    ● Support students' academic and school-based social needs in a one-to-one or small group setting.

    ● Monitor student behavior, enforce school policies, and promote a safe and respectful environment for all.

    ● Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and wellness needs while on campus.

    ● Organize classroom and teaching materials, and verify and track student attendance.

    ● Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, and photocopying; grade tests and homework; track student progress.

    ● Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and staff, and participate in parent–teacher conferences and faculty meetings and events.

    Qualifications:

    ● Successful completion of 60 or more credit hours at an accredited college or university (required).

    ● Proof of successful score on an approved paraprofessional assessment (required).

    ● Prior experience working with high school students (preferred).

    ● Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of teaching environments.

    ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and administration.

    ● Commitment to promoting a positive and safe school culture.

    ● Ability to manage confidential information and student data professionally.

    Schedule and Compensation

    ● Schedule: Full-time, day for the remainder of 2024-2025 school year

    ● Salary: $23.00 per hour

    ● Benefits: No benefits included - Contract Position

    Work Environment:

    The Special Education Paraprofessional will spend most of their time in classrooms within The Henry Ford Museum and/or Greenfield Village, interacting with students and staff, in addition to maintaining a positive school atmosphere.
