High Infection Hygienist focusing on periodontal treatment
Core Responsibilities:
Infection Control:
Adhering to and enforcing strict infection control protocols and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Disinfecting and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment according to OSHA regulations.
Monitoring and documenting compliance with infection prevention and control programs.
Ensuring proper waste disposal procedures.
Patient Care:
Performing Scaling and Root Planning services to patients under periodontal care.
Educating patients on oral hygiene techniques and preventative care.
Assessing patient's oral health, including identifying signs of disease.
Applying fluoride or other cavity-preventing agents.
Taking and developing dental x-rays.
Providing comfort and managing patient anxiety during procedures.
Treatment Room Management:
Preparing treatment rooms for patients by setting up equipment and ensuring cleanliness.
Maintaining a clean and organized hygiene room.
Managing supplies and instruments.
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Charting dental conditions and disease.
Collaboration:
Working collaboratively with dentists and other dental team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
Providing information to patients and answering their questions.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Formal dental hygiene training or a related field.
Licensure: Valid license to practice dental hygiene in the state.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of dental anatomy, physiology, and oral health.
Familiarity with infection control and safety regulations.
Understanding of dental instruments and equipment.
Skills:
