    For the past 10 years, TEACH has been supporting students 1-on-1 and in small group settings with exceptional academic, test prep, and enrichment lessons. Our strong connections to local schools and non-profit organizations offer unique opportunities for tutor contractors to be classroom instructors in addition to providing local families with 1-on-1 support. At TEACH we believe tutoring can be a bridge that helps make content more accessible for all students.

    We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic educators who are ready to dismantle educational barriers that students and families face and open up educational opportunities through tutoring.

    Priority Tutor Positions for the 2024-2025 School Year
    We are looking for multiple High School English Language Arts (ELA) instructors with prior tutoring experience and daytime availability. ****

    High School ELA Instructor:

    This is a part time, hourly position, working with an average of 2-6 students in person during small group pullout instruction or classroom-based instruction working with 15-25 students.

    • Commitment: The commitment is between 6 to 15 hours per week. The instructor would need to be available anytime from 8am-3:30pm: Monday-Friday. Exact schedule would be provided in advance.
    • Locations include: North Philadelphia, Camden, NJ and Willingboro, NJ. Tutors must be open to traveling on-site to this area.
    • Start date: Immediately

    Required Qualifications

    ELA Instructor

    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university
    • 1-2 years of experience in 1-on-1 or in a small group/classroom setting
    • Interest in tutoring with TEACH for 1+ years
    • Available to travel locally in the Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey Area for in-person lessons
    • Ability to complete federal and state background checks and clearances
    • A zest for learning and the spark to share and build knowledge with students!

    Preferred Qualifications

    ELA Instructor

    • Prior experience teaching or tutoring SAT and/or ACT
    • 2-5 years of experience tutoring or teaching in a 1-on-1, small group, or classroom setting
    • Understanding of student-centered learning practices and high impact tutoring

    Tutor Responsibilities

    • Prepare engaging lessons and materials to meet students' needs
    • Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
    • Communicate with TEACH office staff and parents/guardians to coordinate tutoring lessons and check-in about student progress in a punctual manner and with attention to detail
    • Submit time-sensitive information using our database and other online documentation

    Compensation

    $50-$60 per hour depending on experience.

    Founded in 2011 and home-grown in Philly, TEACH offers exceptional tutoring and educational programming K-College. TEACH's tutoring approach starts with building strong relationships to promote both academic and social-emotional development through creative, engaging lessons. In a typical academic year, we serve upward of 1600 students through classes and 1-on-1 tutoring, and coordinate partnership programs with 20+ local schools, charter networks, or nonprofits. The majority of our partnerships extend over multiple years and grant cycles.
