    Job Description

    Science Teacher (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Physics)

    At KIPP Tulsa, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to inspire and challenge scholars in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Physics. The ideal candidate will foster a love for scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving while maintaining high expectations for academic excellence and personal growth.

    Instructional Delivery and Assessment

    • Develop year-long, Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and meet the diverse learning needs of all scholars.
    • Design and implement hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote scientific literacy and real-world application of concepts.
    • Utilize assessment data, including formative and summative assessments, to modify short- and long-term instructional plans, ensuring all scholars achieve academic success.
    • Incorporate laboratory investigations, technology, and project-based learning to enhance student engagement and understanding.
    • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement and professional growth.

    Academic and Cultural Support

    • Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to create an environment of academic rigor, curiosity, and scientific exploration.
    • Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with scholars and families to support student learning and success.
    • Supervise and actively participate in daily school functions, including morning, lunch, and afternoon duties.
    • Engage in school-wide events such as staff meetings, open houses, back-to-school nights, parent orientations, parent-teacher conferences, and PTO events.
    • Develop individualized learning plans for scholars needing additional support and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
    • Uphold professional responsibilities, including timeliness, consistency in meeting deadlines, and adherence to school policies and expectations.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Science from an accredited four-year college or university
    • Master's in Science, preferred
    • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with required certification for subject and level assigned, if applicable*
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the core subject area assigned
    • Satisfactory outcome of a background check. Employees are responsible for a non-refundable fingerprinting fee (approximately $60).

    ** *Applicants currently pursuing a certification may apply before certification is received. All certifications must be acquired and on file with KIPP Tulsa before the end of the first year of employment. ***

    This is a Full-Time, 10-month teaching position.
