Job Summary: Hosts are responsible for greeting and seating guests, overseeing daily reservations, table assignments, and server rotation, answering phone calls, and taking takeout orders. Hosts must be capable of working as a part of a team, maintaining a clean workspace, completing sidework as assigned, adhere to all safety standards, and attend any required meetings and trainings.
Responsibilities:
Greet guests upon arrival and seat them at the appropriate tables to manage the flow between servers.
Utilize table management system to manage guest bookings, including seating arrangement, special requests, and table assignments.
Provide accurate wait time estimates and inform guests of any delays or available seating options.
Escort guests to their tables, presenting menus.
Communicate effectively with serving and kitchen staff to ensure smooth seating transitions and timely service.
Monitor the dining area and anticipate guest needs, addressing any concerns or requests promptly and courteously.
Handle guest inquiries, reservations, and feedback with professionalism and escalate to management as necessary.
Assist with setting up and maintaining the host stand, including cleaning and organizing menus, reservations, and other materials.
Collaborate with other team members to uphold standards of cleanliness, organization, and guest satisfaction throughout the restaurant.
Stay informed about restaurant policies, procedures, events, and promotions to provide accurate information to guests.
Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, taking reservations, and processing payments as needed.
Adhere to all company policies, including uniform standards, attendance, and punctuality.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a host preferred, but not required.
Familiarity with reservation and guest management systems.
Obtain and maintain a valid State Alcohol Certificate through Responsible Beverage Service Training Nebraska. You must present evidence of a valid certificate before or on your first day of employment.
Obtain and maintain a valid City Alcohol Permit through Responsible Beverage Service Training Nebraska. You must present evidence of a valid permit before or on your first day of employment.
Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Permit through the Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department. You must present evidence of a valid permit before or on your first day of employment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
Ability and passion to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively and efficiently.
Basic math skills for processing payments and handling cash for takeout orders.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a positive attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to see, hear, stand, walk, lift and carry various items for prolonged periods of time.
Must be at least 16 years of age and have legal authorization to work in the United States.
