Job Overview:
The Host/Hostess is the first and last point of contact for guests in an upscale dining establishment. This role requires a warm, professional demeanor, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage reservations and seating flow efficiently. The Host plays a crucial role in setting the tone for a refined and memorable dining experience.
Responsibilities:
Guest Reception: Greet guests warmly upon arrival, providing a polished and welcoming first impression.
Reservation Management: Maintain and organize reservations using a booking system, ensuring efficient table allocation and minimizing wait times.
Seating Coordination: Escort guests to their tables in a timely and orderly manner, following server rotation and guest preferences.
Guest Experience Enhancement: Offer personalized service, including accommodating special requests, handling VIP guests, and managing special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays.
Communication & Teamwork: Act as a liaison between the front-of-house and back-of-house staff, informing servers of guest arrivals and preferences.
Waitlist Management: Keep track of waiting guests, provide accurate wait-time estimates, and maintain a comfortable waiting area.
Ambiance Maintenance: Ensure the entrance, host stand, and dining area remain clean and aesthetically pleasing.
Conflict Resolution: Address guest concerns with professionalism, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in a fine dining or high-end hospitality setting preferred.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.
Professional appearance and polished demeanor.
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
Familiarity with reservation management software (e.g., OpenTable, Resy) is a plus.
