This position oversees, directs, and manages property operations to assure optimum performance and continual improvement in the five Key Result Areas (guest service/recovery, profit/financial controls, labor management, property appearance, and sales & marketing). It leads and develops the staff and everyday hotel operations to achieve profitability, guest satisfaction, and efficiency while maintaining company standards, assuring a memorable and fun-filled experience for each guest.
We seek general managers for positions in boutique-style hotels owned and operated by VIP Hospitality Group. We have several properties with 40 - 100 rooms, many with restaurants or full breakfast programs. We even like to build a coffee shop or two in the mix.

Excellent communication skills and clear written, verbal, and email management skills are a must when working closely with internal guests, customers, and management. A track record of employment stability and references and evidence of strong leadership abilities in managing/motivating teams must be provided.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Manages and leads employees with a positive energy that drives good results. Sets teaching and coaching employees as a significant priority and improves the development of the hotel team every day.
Demonstrates strong financial controls and general business acumen. Able to understand a PNL and make decisions about how to operate a hotel best provided the current revenue and occupancy.
Ability to assist in forecasting for the hotel to determine what to expect in actual versus budget.
Exceeds guest expectations, helping VIP Hospitality Group become a destination where people want to return again and again. Resolves concerns in a timely manner and develops the team to promote service throughout the hotel.
Recruits top talent in these small markets where hiring employees becomes increasingly more difficult.
Communicate essential procedures and policies, and manage employees through good communication and continuous feedback.
Conducts coaching/counseling with employees through the entire life cycle of the employee.
Mentors and develops staff into future leaders, building a succession plan for supervisor to management roles.
Inspects and documents repairs and cleanliness of property with management to ensure optimum upkeep and repair, room cleanliness, and overall property appearance.
Preventative maintenance programs for the hotel and guest rooms are performed regularly and according to the standards set by management.
Works with management to assist in the property's sales activities and meet revenue objectives. Activities include setting goals, completing competitive surveys, taking reservations, and compiling reports.
Identifies and seeks out potential business in the local market. Maintains relationships with local businesses and key people to increase the company's visibility within the local market.
Rolls up sleeves and provides relief for any position in the hotel if needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or Business. Equivalent and progressive hotel experience will be considered.
3+ years as a general manager or in another management role within a hotel environment.
The food and beverage experience is desired for the growth plan following the renovation of many of our hotels.
Track record of results in training and leading a team to success in the industry.
Able to work nights and weekends as the role demands.
Experience with learning a new PMS System or good comprehension with software.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel or similar programs to generate reports and analyze data.
Organized and highly efficient in managing projects and working directly with the corporate team on progress.
Flexibility and the ability to work with change are necessary in the boutique environment.
An engaged and passionate leader who wants to work to teach and mentor their team.
Proactive and looking ahead to ensure the team is prepared for the next quarter and year.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
