  • Responsibilities

    Overview:

    The Maintenance Engineer performs preventative maintenance on all guest rooms and other public areas of the Holiday Inn KCI in accordance with IHG standards to ensure areas are “Guest Ready” every day.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Ensure proper installation, repair, and/or maintenance of all equipment, plumbing, and other finished surfaces of the hotel.

    Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of air conditioning units, PTACs, and HVAC systems as needed.

    Anticipate maintenance needs, take initiative when required, and follow tasks through to completion.

    Maintain security of all storage areas/shops in compliance with IHG policies and any applicable local, county, state, and federal safety, fire, security, and risk guidelines/standards/codes/laws.

    Assist with hotel security to minimize the risk of theft, crime, and other hazards.

    Troubleshoot issues with all hotel systems, including but not limited to: Keys/Locks, PMS, Fire Alarm, Water Softeners, HVAC, F&B (including equipment), Boilers, Water Heaters, Water Flow, Water Softeners, Expo Center Equipment and Systems, Laundry Equipment, Fire Alarm Systems, ANSUL Systems, Fire Sprinkler Systems, and any other systems used by the Hotel/Expo Center.

    Monitor inventory of parts and supplies.

    Maintain and order parts and supplies promptly and efficiently while minimizing waste and maintaining “green” initiatives.

    Monitor the inventory of all Hotel and Expo Center-owned tools.

    Maintain the exterior of the property by doing daily walks around the premises, and removing and disposing of trash as needed.

    Assist with removing trash as needed and directed by the Supervisor.

    Remove snow and spread ice melt in traffic areas to ensure safe walking paths for guests and employees.

    Other Duties and Expectations:

    Work closely with all departments using crystal clear communication.

    Lead by example; encourage co-workers to always perform at the highest levels.

    Ask for feedback from supervisors and provide feedback as needed; be open and willing to take directions and/or make changes to job performance as needed.

    Engage guests at all opportunities to build a level of comfort between the guest and our property, instilling a “Home Away From Home” comfort during their stay.

    Understand and respond to customer’s needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.

    Perform shuttle driver duties as needed.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    1 year experience in Maintenance, Plumbing, or other related field required.

    Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, painting, mechanical, and carpentry fields.

    Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber, and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required.

    Hotel experience preferred.

    Must be able to lift and move objects of up to, or over, 40 lbs.
