The House at 1229, founded by Kathleen Buhle, is a vibrant non-profit social club for female leaders in downtown DC, committed to bringing together women from diverse backgrounds to share core beliefs and build meaningful connections. Position Overview
The House Attendant role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, requiring a diligent and proactive individual. We are seeking a candidate with a background in hospitality; country club or hotel experience is a plus.
This position requires a hardworking and self-motivated individual who is willing to go above and beyond to ensure cleanliness and overall positive experience for our club members. Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations:
· Assist the team with day-to-day operations, including cleaning and providing on-site member support when needed.
· Understand how to clean, maintain, and preserve various building surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
· Exhibit professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.
Job Duties
General Cleaning Responsibilities:
· Keep facilities and common areas clean, organized, and well-maintained.
· Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock restroom supplies.
· Vacuum carpets, mop floors, and polish glass surfaces throughout the club.
· Dust furniture, light fixtures, and exercise equipment.
· Perform spot cleaning and deep cleaning as needed.
· Clean upholstered furniture and maintain spa areas, including showers.
Kitchen & Pantry Maintenance:
· Perform dishwashing duties and kitchen upkeep.
· Clean and stock restrooms and pantry areas.
· Wash and fold laundry as required.
Trash & Recycling:
· Collect and dispose of trash, including taking it to the dumpster.
· Handle recycling materials appropriately.
Event & Meeting Support:
· Assist with setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for events.
· Set up meeting rooms for functions and gatherings.
· Serve refreshments or coffee to members during events.
Facility Maintenance & Reporting:
· Notify management of necessary repairs or maintenance issues.
· Report damage, plumbing issues, and burned-out light bulbs.
· Lock and unlock the building as needed, ensuring it is secure when not in use.
· Help address maintenance issues and support inventory control efforts.
Member Assistance:
· Provide assistance to members when needed.
· Offer hospitality by serving refreshments or offering help during peak times.
Work Environment:
The role requires in-person availability.
Evening and weekend work may be necessary based on the club’s calendar.
Physical Requirements:
The position may require occasional lifting of supplies and materials up to 25 pounds, as well as participation in and oversight of events.
