Job Description

• Communicate with team members to gather information needed for the project from other civil engineering disciplines such as the required water way opening for a bridge design, design flood event levels, or subsurface material parameters for a structure foundation design.
• Assist in the development of plans for structural engineering projects together with CAD designers and guidance from a structural team lead.
• Perform in-service safety inspections and load ratings of existing bridges as well as provide onsite construction observation duties during the construction phase of structural engineering projects.
• Utilize a variety of structural analysis and design software to understand the characteristics and behavior of various structures under loading conditions and determine adequate member sizes and layouts to satisfy the design requirements.
• Perform detailed design work calculations and reviews, quantity calculations, engineer estimates and develop specifications for projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
• Experience or course work in the design of various civil structures.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn concrete, steel and masonry design codes, AASHTO LRFD Design specifications, as well as local and national building codes.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks independently
• Proficiency or ability to learn Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Microstation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, Finite Element Analysis Programs, and other design programs
• Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
• Works well in a team environment and highly driven toward team success
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
