    Collector I

    Location: Costa Mesa, CA

    Position Summary:

    The Collector I resolves payments with insurance companies, government payors, and patients. Key duties include:

    Managing accounts and work queues

    Evaluating and pricing claims

    Initiating underpayment appeals

    Handling payor/patient correspondence

    Escalating billing issues

    Reporting billing edits

    Understanding Revenue Cycle and managed care contracts

    Interpreting EOBs and ERAs

    Educating on benefit plans

    Familiarity with UB04 and HCFA 1500 forms

    Knowledge of insurance payors and claims processing

    Using patient accounting systems

    Documenting calls and actions

    Setting up payment arrangements

    Processing bankruptcy and deceased patient accounts

    Required Skills & Experience:

    1 year of hospital business experience or strong customer service background

    Basic knowledge of insurance plans, hospital reimbursement, ICD10, and CPT coding

    Education:

    Required: High school diploma or equivalent

    Certifications & Licensure:

    Required: N/A
