Our Client is an Electric Vehicle Manufacturer that has spent the past decade designing and developing electrified trucks and platforms for commercial applications that are about to embark on the launch, production, and large-scale manufacturing of their vehicles. As a result, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design and Release Engineer who will collaborate with the thermal engineering team in ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the thermal management system, which is responsible for controlling the temperature of various components in the vehicle, such as the battery, motors, power electronics, and cabin. As a Design and Release Engineer, your responsibilities include collaborating with the thermal engineering team to design, specify, and validate thermal devices including but not limited to heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and fluid routing systems. You will be accountable for ensuring that the thermal management system, along with its thermal devices, is capable of effectively controlling the temperature of the vehicle's components while also meeting all necessary safety and performance standards. If you are an experienced Design and Release Engineer DRE with experience in one or more of the following areas, we would like to hear from you: Thermal, Temperature Management, HVAC, Cooling Plates, Shielding, Battery Pack Heating and Cooling, Motor, Powertrain or Power Electronics Cooling. Responsibilities * Lead component requirements, design/selection, and validation plan for various thermal devices including but not limited to pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, valves, and fluid routings. * Assist in vehicle-level thermal modelling and simulation. * Work with the Battery, Harnessing/EDS, Controls, and Chassis teams to define integration strategy, requirements, and validation plan of above devices in the respective systems. * Create necessary supporting documentation relating to and including DFMEA, PFMEA, and DVP. * Work with suppliers to ensure that component specifications and timing expectations are met. * Support hands-on integration, testing, and troubleshooting of above devices on test benches and prototype vehicles. * Identify and execute design and process improvements based on previous build and test data. Requirements * BS in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BSIE...) or Equivalent Experience. * 1-5 years of OEM or Tier 1 experience, preferably on HEV, PHEV, or BEV platforms * Ability to lead the design and release application work for electrical systems * Experience working in structured engineering processes including a definition of requirements and objective function, concept creation, market analysis for components, analyzing options, and making final engineering decisions * Ability to work in a shop environment when needed to support physical test bench and vehicle builds. * Self-starting and ready to work with a small team in a fast-paced startup environment.
