  • Responsibilities

    The Human Resources (HR) Advisor is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to clients on all aspects of HR operations. They will work directly with the client’s management team to help identify needs, plan and execute HR initiatives, and contractually obligated duties associated with their position. In addition, the HR Advisor will work with clients to maintain HR compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Responsibilities: Essential Functions • Works with clients to provide assistance with the overall administration of all human resources including payroll processing, recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, unemployment, and workers comp. • Works with clients to set up HRIS system ensuring all required paperwork is collected and state and federal requirements are met. • Works with clients to maintain HR compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. • Provide guidance and advice to clients regarding policy interpretation, application, and documentation. Provide information to employees on benefits and payroll. • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. • Assists clients in coordinating organizational development and leadership training. • Assist with the coordination of activities related to increasing employee engagement. • Actively supports client’s core values and works to enhance company culture. • Other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities (Non-Essential): • Personnel record keeping. • Assist clients with benefit enrollment communications and administration. • Provides required retirement plan communications. • Assists with various research/special projects/reports as needed. • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed. Physical Demands • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally uses hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach stairs; talk or hear. May require sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time. Travel • Minimum travel is required and is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. • Minimum five years’ experience in human resource administration. • Prior experience with government compliance, Human Resources laws, and regulations is required. • Professional Human Resource certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR. Preferred Experience and Education • Strong knowledge of general HR practices and governmental regulations to include but not limited to laws regarding state and federal payroll. • Multi-state payroll processing experience. Additional Eligibility Qualifications • Able to independently initiate project and initiative ideas; managing projects and initiatives through to completion. • Highly creative in generating new ideas and creating novel solutions. • Detail-oriented, with the ability to keep track of many small moving parts across a project. • Highly flexible and able to gracefully adapt to new changes. • Comfortable taking the lead on projects and determining priorities to meet deadlines. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including good listening skills. • Good organizational skills. • Interpersonal communication and conflict resolution. • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. • Ability to manage strategically and think innovatively. • Ability to deal effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff, external auditors, and legal counsel. • Able to make sound decisions when establishing and executing policies, procedures, and goals. • Computer skills: Knowledge of HR systems and Microsoft Office. • Ability to build solid working relationships with all levels of employees. • Ability to exercise good judgment, problem-solving ability, and resourcefulness. • Must be able to adapt to change with a positive attitude. • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks with accuracy to meet deadlines. • Ability to lead and manage people.
