Word on Fire’s human resources team has the great privilege of serving Word on Fire employees, who daily give their time and talents to support the work of Bishop Robert Barron and proclaim Christ in the culture. The Human Resources Coordinator or Specialist will support this work in a wide variety of human resources functions including recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, employee engagement, compliance, and office management.

Complete the full-cycle recruiting process for certain positions, including posting, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating offers
Conduct new employee orientation and effectively onboard new employees
Draft and edit job descriptions
Assist employees with benefits enrollment, answer benefits questions, and administer benefits changes
Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related questions, escalating concerns when necessary
Support company-wide employee engagement initiatives such as staff gatherings, wellness programs, and recognition programs
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records
Assist in employee relations matters by addressing workplace concerns, facilitating communication between employees and management, and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws
Generate HR reports related to turnover, headcount, time to fill, and other key metrics
Assist in payroll processing
Write internal ministry communications and respond to external inquiries about Word on Fire’s open positions
Update and manage several Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to maintain accurate employee information
Maintain office supplies inventory, purchase new supplies, and support other general office management tasks
Plan and execute ministry events such as holiday parties, team-building activities, and both formal and informal staff gatherings
Stay updated on HR trends and best practices to recommend process improvements
Commitment to the mission of Word on Fire
Knowledge of the Catholic Church and its teachings, with an interest in applying scripture and church teachings to HR work, particularly in benefits, policies, and relevant employment laws
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience; in addition, the specialist-level position requires 2 years’ experience in human resources
Understanding of HR functions, labor laws, and best practices
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
High levels of interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and practical judgement (common sense)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel occasionally
Familiarity with the work of Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire
Experience with HR software and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
1-2 years’ experience recruiting employment candidates
