    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with other members of the HR team supporting the hourly employees. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting, employee relations, labor relations, leaves of absence management, systems maintenance, training, goal setting/performance management, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

    • Contribute to the development of culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion where employees experience is at the center of HR service delivery.

    • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of non-exempt personnel within the Bessemer City VAP.

    • Administration, tracking and communication of leaves of absence, in conjunction with vendor, working closely with employees and managers. Lead and manage interactive process for ADA cases.

    • Provides coaching and guidance to front-line leaders and employees on routine employee relations matters including employee development, performance feedback, attendance disciplinary actions, and benefits.

    • Collaborate with leadership with ideas for new initiatives and process improvements.

    • Assists in completion of improvement projects as directed and may be designated to lead projects within the competency level of the role.

    • Conduct employee meetings to ensure smooth onboarding and retention. Help organize training & development initiatives to assist with retention.

    • Works collaboratively and urgently with all departments to achieve KPI goals and plant goals.

    • Assist in development and implementation of personnel procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation to employees.

    • Back up to the HR supervisor as a mediator, counselor, disputes between employees and their supervisors and managers, using care and judgment to ensure fairness and equity throughout the counseling process. Will manage first level investigations when required.

    • Assist with focus groups, roundtable meetings, surveys, and other activities to gather data on employee relations matters and activities.

    • Assists with preparation and presentation of HR training sessions for employees and supervisors on topics such as wage & hour laws, anti-harassment, and other company initiatives.

    • Maintain compliant I-9 forms and ensure E-Verify requests are completed in compliance with regulations.

    • EEO/Affirmative Action Plan data tracking for all hourly positions. Compliance with EEO goals and objectives, and management of the employment database.

    • Maintains plant organizational charts to ensure headcount is in line with budgeted targets.

    • Assist with benefits enrollment and conduct annual open enrollments meetings for all employees.

    • Works with leaders in creating and updating job descriptions. Assist with benchmarking position to ensure competitive compensation.

    • Audits internal process and procedures to ensure compliance and develops SOP’s to enhance processes.

    • Assists with other Human Resources duties as needed or for back-up.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    ** JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:**

    • 3+ years of human resources experience; or a combination of appropriate education combined with human resources with recruiting/talent acquisition exposure.

    • Working knowledge of Federal and state labor laws and ability to understand company policies and procedures.

    • Excellent and responsive customer service focus

    • Strong attention to detail with ability to analyze data.

    • Resourceful with a problem-solving aptitude to resolve issues.

    • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to perform effectively in a fast-faced environment.

    • High level of skill in handling sensitive and confidential situations/information with the demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work with employees at all levels of an organization.

    • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues, and to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or government laws.

    • Strong knowledge and experience with MS Office with intermediate Excel skills

    Bilingual/Bi-literate English/Spanish required.

    Required Experience

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, administration, communications, or related field preferred

    • PHR Certification highly desired

    PAY RATE:

    • $68,000 - $72,000 Annually
