A Place of Grace, Inc. has been serving adults with developmental disabilities in northern California since 2002. As we continue to grow, we are investing in our team and looking for a Human Resources Manager to take responsibility of all Human Resources functions for the company and to lead our small HR team. Human resource matters will include policy and program management, recruitment, employee relations, company audits/reporting, and training, and compliance. This position will also partner with office management to aid in additional administrative activities across the company. To be successful in this role, it is essential to have experience as an HR manager or other senior role in an HR team, and have knowledge around all legal requirements, especially California Labor Law. The HR Manager will also work closely with Director of Operations and Facility Administrators. The HR manager is directly responsible to State and Regional agencies for adherence to laws and regulations, and to the President and Vice President of A Place of Grace.

GENERAL ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance / Reporting:
Incorporate knowledge of California employment laws into all Human Resources functions and stay up to date on laws to provide guidance to management
Oversee and document company and employee compliance with all federal and state labor and industry regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures
Oversee & maintain company compliance (including tracking and reporting) as it relates to: EEO (EEO-1 Reporting), MWS, I-9, E-Verify, ADAA, FMLA, OSHA, Labor Law, Department of Social Services and other Federal, State, and Local law requirements.
Maintain and report on workplace health and safety compliance
Policy and Program Management:
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with our overall business strategy
Development and revision of personnel policies and procedures, including Employee Handbook. Effectively communicate policies and procedures to company employees.
Coordinate performance review process and audit as necessary.
Work with administration and HR team on employee retention strategies (recognition and reward programs, etc.).
Work closely with Director of Operations on Workplace Violence Plan and Workplace Violence Plan log.
Employee Relations:
Help support and maintain a positive work-site and company culture that supports company vision and values, as well as a healthy employee experience
Work with the Leadership Team to implement and execute proactive employee relations initiatives
Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues. Resolve conflicts through positive and professional mediation.
Handle investigations and termination procedures
Provide direction and support to facility administrators on employee performance issues, disciplinary actions and corrective action plans
Provide support to managers and employees as needed
Recruiting, Training, & Development:
Develop and implement recruitment campaigns (using job boards, government mandated posting sites, social media, etc.).
Maintain, update, and write company job descriptions
Implement and train HR team and facility administrators on interviewing and onboarding best practices
Work with HR team and administrator to screen resumes, conduct prescreening phone interviews, background and reference checks and other parts of the hiring process on an as needed basis
Generate offer letters and other required paperwork for the offer process as needed
Other / Administrative:
Oversee small HR team
Create clear and concise reports.
Manage leaves of absence requests and worker’s compensation incidents
Oversee and assist with payroll processes
Maintain employee and workplace privacy
Special Projects when applicable
Schedule:
M-F 9am - 4:30pm
minimal weekend/evening availability for emergencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources
2+ years experience in Human Resources field
Knowledge of current employment laws
Competency in complex language to understand employment law
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations
Competency in Microsoft applications including word, Excel, and Outlook
Live Scan criminal background check, health screening and TB required for onboarding
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the health and human services field preferred (special preference for experience with organizations providing residential services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities)
SHRM certification
Competency in Microsoft Sharepoint, APS Payroll system
Experience in educating and coaching staff with concise ideas and clear presentations
Salary: $70,000 – 80,000
Potential raise opportunities at six months and/or one year of employment upon proven performance record.
