    Job Summary:

    The Human Resource Generalist will provide support to the organization and provide excellent customer service in support of PPL’s mission. The Human Resource Generalist acts as a liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations. This position is the primary contact for the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of all new staff and will partner with the Senior Director of Human Resources and Senior Human Resources Generalist on many HR projects and tasks.

    The Human Resource Generalist will work with the Senior Director of Human Resources to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals in regard to diversity which may include geography, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, immigration status, veteran status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity/expression, age, ability and religion. Utilizing a strong racial equity lens, along with PPL's Diversity Recruitment Strategy, in the execution of duties is critical to the success of this position.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

    Recruitment and External Outreach

    • Implement procedures for sourcing and recruiting potential applicants for exempt and non-exempt positions.
    • Preparing PPL leaders to utilize hiring systems and understanding the full hiring process along with rules and regulations for hiring best practices.
    • Develop relationships and community networks in order to expand connections that are needed to reach a diverse candidate base.
    • Determine recruitment sources, write and post internal and external job postings, attend local college and community job fairs, and leverage social media networking tools in partnership with PPL’s communication department.
    • In conjunction with the Senior Director of Human Resources identify what sort of barriers are present that are hindering the acquisition of diverse talent at all levels of the organization.
    • Assist managers with phone interviews and in-person interviews as needed. Develop and update interview guides for new and existing positions.
    • Process candidate background and reference checks. Prepare offer letters.

    Onboarding Staff

    • Oversee pre-employment requirements for each new staff.
    • Oversee E-Verify, I9, background checks (including annual MVR and car insurance verification), maintenance, and personnel file compliance.
    • Ensure completion of all required documents and training compliance for new hires (i.e. Policy acknowledgement, annual training requirements, etc).
    • Communicate onboarding timeline with supervisors and ensure they are prepared for the new employee.
    • Ensure all required internal documents are completed in preparation for the employee's first day (i.e. e-mail, office location, phone, computer, etc.)
    • Welcome new employees upon their arrival.
    • Facilitate employee orientation and provide them a tour of the PPL Campus.
    • Support and coordinate with supervisors and IT with modifying based on needs of hire.
    • With the onboarding process, responsible for ensuring all new hire documents are created properly and then submitted for final processing.
    • Responsible for planning in conjunction with the HR team the quarterly New Hire Onboarding Event.
    • Support with conducting stay interviews across departments to support retention efforts across PPL.
    • Work with HR team and managers to create and support consistent onboarding practices that meet the needs of each department.

    HR Administration

    • Support with conducting stay interviews across departments to support retention efforts across PPL.
    • Be available to support staff with questions and concerns and guide appropriately.
    • Support TEC team efforts with trainings, All Staff, and other meeting prep as needed.
    • Active participation on an internal PPL Committee to enhance cross-collaboration with staff
    • Assist in the coordination of the annual performance review process.
    • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
    • Back-up HR Generalist, when needed, for payroll, benefit, and compliance support.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Ability to collaborate, create, and cultivate relationships at multiple levels utilizing meaningful communication.
    • Represent PPL at external Job Fairs, College Fairs, Community partners, etc.

    • High level of confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of HR practices and employment law.
    • Integrated HRIS database experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
    • Ability to navigate the internet, HRIS system and electronic timecard system.
    • Ability to navigate computer networks (files, drives, and folders)

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field
    • 1-3 years of human resources experience
    • Any similar combination of education and experience

    Salary: $50,000k-$55,000k Yr., DOQ

    PPL's work structure strikes a balance between on-site presence at the office or satellite locations and remote work from home based on the program's needs. You will work with your supervisor to find the right balance for your team.
