JOB DESCRIPTION
KIPP Chicago seeks a Human Resources (HR) Specialist to join our regional People Team. The regional The HR Specialist position will be a new, junior position on our People that will include key responsibilities in our staff onboarding, pay and benefits management, and staff communications. The HR Specialist will interface with school-based and regional staff across multiple departments. The HR Specialist will work in-person daily at our KIPP Chicago Regional Office, with some quarterly work days at school campuses. The HR Generalist will report to the Managing Director of Human Resources. The ideal start timeline for this role is June 2025.
The responsibilities of the Human Resources Specialist include, but are not limited to:
Staff Onboarding & Offboarding
Align with Talent Team and MD of Human Resources to execute timely onboarding for new staff
Execute accurate and timely Onboarding & Offboarding communication
Executes accurate and timely Background Check Processes & Faith’s Law Documentation
Compliance Coordination
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintains accurate Benefits Operations through relevant HRS
Maintains accurate Time & Attendance through relevant HRS
_ Employee Support_
Field employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Support staff requests for employment verification for a variety of time-bound needs with confidentiality and accuracy
Manage ongoing employee files in physical and digital files according to aligned criteria
Respond to correspondence from staff with prompt, accurate, and professional communication, both by phone, email, and on our HR website as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
2-4 years of successful Human Resources experience.
SHRM-CP credential a plus
Work experience in a non-profit or educational setting
Exemplary verbal and written communication
Demonstrated integrity and discernment with sensitive information
Fluent experience with Google Suite of tools
Experience with HR systems such as Paycor
A cleared CPS Background check before start of employment (required)
