    POSITION TITLE:     BUSINESS SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE          

    FLSA STATUS:         Non-Exempt                                                                                               

    REPORTS TO:          Director

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Reports directly to the Workforce Center Director.  Responsible for conducting all business services activities for Workforce Solutions Panhandle.  Performs work inside and outside the workforce center to gather and evaluate information for development of a plan to meet the needs of local employers.  Provides information about and markets all workforce center business services to employers.  Explores all available resources to meet employer needs.  Facilitates a connection between employers and workforce center staff.  Facilitates and promotes a connection between employers and state and federal resources such as Skills Development grants and other grants as applicable that support economic growth within the Panhandle community.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·         Develops and maintains working relationships with local and prospective employers while promoting the use of all workforce center business services.

    ·         Develops and presents job seeker/employer workshops and presentations.

    ·         Facilitates Hiring Events and Job Fairs in the Panhandle Region.

    ·         Researches and contacts employers to promote workforce center business services according to the Panhandle Workforce Development Area (PWDA) plan.

    ·         Researches, analyzes, and compiles labor market information, area profiles, wage survey data, and other related material, and disseminates the information to employers.

    ·         Develops current labor market information on area employers, their products and services, human resource needs, trends, and appropriate resources.

    ·         Coordinates with appropriate workforce center staff to review and assess availability of qualified job applicants and formulate a service plan to maximize utilization of workforce center business services.

    ·         Serves as a resource and provides technical assistance to employers and workforce center staff in such areas as screening and selection procedures, hiring practices, and establishing competitive wage rates.

    ·         Represents the workforce center at community, civic, chamber, and other similar events and activities.

    ·         Identifies business services not currently available, explores the feasibility of providing and implementing business services with appropriate staff, and implements new business services as determined necessary.

    ·         Maintains current and accurate employer contact information utilizing an employer job-matching database.  Conducts follow-up contacts with employers to ensure employer needs have been met.        

    ·         Develops and processes job orders from employers by telephone, over the Internet, or in person, and records information electronically to facilitate the selection, screening, and referral process.

    ·         Ensures quality control of job orders in accordance with employment laws, rules, and regulations.

    ·         Develops Internships, on-the-job training and customized training opportunities with employers for job seeker customers.

    ·         Facilitates and promotes a connection between employers and state and federal resources such as Skills Development grants and other grants as applicable that support economic growth within the Panhandle community.

    ·         Cultivates relationships with members of the media and key influencers.

    ·         Creates and distributes marketing and PR collateral such as press releases and photos.

    ·         Other duties as assigned.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    ·         High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    ·         Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or related field preferred, not required, or a minimum of five years’ experience in sales, public relations, communications, or any equivalent combination of work experience, education, and training which provides the required level of knowledge. 

    ·         Candidate must possess a demonstrated proficiency in both verbal and written communications and basic computer skills and be a self-starter. 

    ·         Strong organizational skills are essential. 

    ·         Experience in facilitating group orientations and presenting in a public forum is preferred. 

    ·         Must possess a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation.  Occasional travel using personal vehicle required.
