Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated I/DD Job Coach to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in obtaining and maintaining meaningful employment in the community. The Job Coach will work with a caseload of clients, providing individualized coaching, training, and support as they transition into and succeed in their employment settings. This role is focused on ensuring clients achieve their personal and professional goals while developing skills to foster long-term employment success.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Support: Provide one-on-one job coaching to individuals with I/DD, helping them develop job-specific skills and maintain successful employment.
Job Placement Assistance: Assist clients in identifying job opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and goals. Work with local employers to create suitable employment opportunities for clients.
On-the-Job Training: Support clients in learning their job duties and responsibilities, providing hands-on training and guidance during the onboarding process and beyond.
Workplace Integration: Ensure clients feel included and comfortable in the workplace. Provide ongoing support and advocacy to address any challenges they may face in the work environment.
Job Retention Support: Monitor job performance, provide regular feedback, and offer support as necessary to ensure job retention and career growth. Conduct periodic check-ins to assess progress and address concerns.
Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including supervisors, case managers, and family members, to ensure a holistic approach to the client's employment success.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of job coaching sessions, client progress, and other relevant data. Complete reports as required by program policies and funding sources.
Advocacy & Community Engagement: Advocate for the rights and needs of clients in the workplace. Build and maintain relationships with employers to ensure ongoing support and accommodations as necessary.
Goal Setting & Progress Monitoring: Collaborate with clients to set achievable goals and track their progress toward those goals. Adjust coaching strategies as needed to support each individual's development.
Additional Assignments: Perform other tasks and assignments as directed by the agency or supervisor, based on operational needs. This may include supporting program development, assisting with training initiatives, or participating in community outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Rehabilitation, Psychology, or a related field is required.
Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, particularly in a job coaching or employment support role, is highly preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, employers, and team members.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on individuals’ lives.
Ability to provide clear, structured guidance and coaching to clients in a variety of work environments.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of supported employment best practices and relevant regulations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, to create reports, track progress, and communicate effectively.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to various job sites within the community.
