International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 291 is the Southwest Idaho Chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. (IBEW). The IBEW International is a Labor Union representing over 750,000 workers across the U.S and Canada including but not limited to, Electricians, Lineman, Telecommunication workers, Radio and Television Broadcast workers, Manufacturing and Government employees.
Locally, IBEW Local 291 represents approximately 1,300 workers throughout the Treasure Valley and Eastern Oregon. The office assistant is an integral part of our team for our day to day operations and support of our members and future members.
After a 90 day probationary period, the Office Worker position will be covered under a working agreement with the Office & Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 11. The agreement between OPEIU Local 11 & IBEW Local 291 covers all aspects of the working environment including hours, wages and working conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Office Worker include the following;
Communications:
The Office Worker is responsible for incoming phone calls and in-person visitors. You will assist as needed or decide who in the office would best be suited to handle their needs.
Bookkeeping:
Bookkeeping experience would be helpful using Quickbooks Desktop

Other duties to include;
· Manage the ordering and receiving of office supplies, including maintaining inventory of forms and supplies from our International Office
· Maintain Ink and Toner refills for copier
· Organization and neatness of supply area and inventory
· Maintaining membership files
· Draft letters for other office staff
· Type Local Union Newsletter
· Assist other office staff with duties as needed
· Assist with job referrals when needed
· Process all paperwork for new contractors
· Assist retiring members with retirement forms when needed
· Order flowers and mail cards for deceased members and assist deceased members families with forms and paperwork as needed
· Be willing to adapt to new technology as changes are needed
· Cross train with other employees and be familiar with their tasks
· Other duties may be assigned as needed

Hours are 8am-5pm - Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch period between 12pm and 1pm.
