Job Description
The Brand Controller is responsible for financial operation and reporting requirements. This individual will lead financial reporting, manage fiscal responsibilities, establish accounting policies and practices to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, as well as drive budget and forecast activities. This role requires leadership abilities, which translates into increased performance and profitability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual GL accounting close process and validate accuracy of results.
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filling financial reports. Advises management of actions and potential risks.
- Keep up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance
- Prepare reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earning based on past, present, and expected operations.
- identify and research technical accounting issues, provides leadership to the team around up to date standards, ensuring that all reporting is in compliance.
- Identify areas of inefficiency and provide ways to create substantive change
- Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems along with knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner while gathering and analyzing information skillfully.
- Aptitude to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
- Solid time and project management skills
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with 5 years of experience in financial management. CPA designation a plus.
- Restaurant/Retail experience a plus.
- Multi-Unit, Multi State experience a plus.
