    About SkySpecs

SkySpecs is simplifying renewable energy asset management by offering purpose-built technologies and services that help our customers deliver industry-leading productivity, efficiency, and returns. Every day we help our customers unlock the power of their data so they can make confident, informed decisions. Our team brings deep industry experience and a willingness to get our hands dirty to first understand and then solve customer problems on the ground.

SkySpecs launched the world's first completely autonomous blade inspection product in 2016 with a custom-designed drone system. Since then, SkySpecs has inspected over 160,000 wind turbines in over 31 countries, becoming the world leader in understanding the health of turbine blades. Identifying issues with turbine blades is only the first step. In 2019, SkySpecs launched Horizon to be a platform for SkySpecs to offer a multi-layered solution for customers that includes: data collection, wind turbine blade engineering expertise, and a place for all stakeholders to collaborate to manage and analyze massive amounts of data, spot trends, and create plans for high-cost repair campaigns. Since 2021, SkySpecs has acquired three companies specializing in wind turbine drivetrain monitoring, financial management and automated turbine data analytics and fleet optimization, further expanding our offering in the market. Ultimately, this will help reduce the cost and risk of operations for the industry.

What will I be getting myself into?

You will be a task-oriented tech hero. You will support teams across the globe with software tools, information management, security, technology, and more. You'd be part of a small but supportive team making quick decisions and helping others wherever possible.

You will empower our employees to thrive in their domain while ensuring the solutions used are scalable. We want to equip every employee with tech that allows them to succeed. We do everything we can not to be a roadblock while recognizing that a growing company comes with growing security needs.

We do not have any on-premise IT infrastructure. Everything we do is cloud based SaaS.

In general, SkySpecs will probably be unlike any place you've ever worked. You will find a high energy environment filled with incredibly smart people solving hard problems. SkySpecs values collaboration, multidisciplinary problem solving, and a mantra of ‘under-promise, over-deliver'. SkySpecs is at a critical period where there are an endless number of opportunities to make an impact.

As an IT Coordinator, you will:

Help ensure that our employees can use the tools they need to succeed in their daily work. Some highlights from your coming year could include:

    • Equipment procurement, device & account setup, user account management, employee onboarding & offboarding, ongoing training, IT helpdesk, etc.
    • Assisting in making our daily portfolio of 100+ different cloud software tools manageable, approachable, and helpful for our team.
    • Researching, trying out, and vetting new tools to determine viability for company or department use.
    • Documenting changes to (and the creation of) IT processes and procedures.
    • Supporting our 200+ employees across the globe (with a primary focus on North America and our Ann Arbor locations) to ensure they have the equipment to work comfortably wherever they are. We have field teams on boats in the Arctic Circle, we have people working from offices, we have people working from home. There is not a one-size-fits-all solution to this—it requires empathy for each individual and their unique situation, while attempting to remain equitable across individuals and teams.

Some other areas where you could help contribute include:

    • Security: We have been slowly rolling out improvements to our IT security setup but there is always room for improvement while keeping inconvenience to a minimum.
    • Facilities: Assist, as needed, in the design and provisioning of the IT systems in our warehouses and office spaces as we continue to grow.
    • Environment: As a renewable energy company, we strive to maintain a minimal environmental impact. Coordinating e-waste recycling is a great opportunity.

    Requirements of the job:

    • At least one year of experience in an operational IT role, working directly with employees, hardware, and software
    • An interest in tinkering with technology - don't be afraid to use a screwdriver
    • Willingness to work out of our Ann Arbor office at least a day or two every week and provide emergency support at the office when needed
    • Strong process development and documentation experience
    • Responsible management of valuable assets
    • Empathy and eagerness to help others
    • A high level of autonomy and self-direction
    • Low ego

    Bonus Points For:

    • A degree in a technical field (engineering, information systems, etc.)
    • Knowledge of all three major operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux - specifically Ubuntu and PopOS)
    • Experience with ISO and SOC standards for information security
