    IT Security Administrator Job Description

    Job Title: IT Security Administrator Consultant

    Department: Information Technology/Security

    Reports to: CISO

     

    US BASED, NO SPONSORSHIP

     

    Job Summary:

    The Security Administrator is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities. This role involves monitoring network activity, investigating security incidents, and implementing security measures to protect the organization's information assets.

    • Will be required to come into the client’s office 1-2 times a week and/or on demand.
    • Background check required

    Key Responsibilities:

    Security Monitoring:

    • Senior level monitor oversight of security logs and alerts from various security systems firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Servers, Business Systems and functional operational systems.
    • Analyze security events and identify potential threats.
    • Respond to security incidents according to established procedures.

    Security Administration:

    • Manage and maintain security tools and technologies (firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection systems).
    • Configure and update security systems with the latest patches and signatures.
    • Administer user accounts and access controls.

    Incident Response:

    • Investigate and respond to security incidents, including malware infections, data breaches, and phishing attacks.
    • Contain and mitigate the impact of security incidents.
    • Document incident response activities.

    Security Audits and Compliance:

    • Assist with security audits and compliance assessments.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.

    Technical Expertise:

    • Provide proper use of network security concepts and protocols.
    • Experience with security tools and technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, antivirus).
    • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell).

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure security best practices are followed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of experience in information security administration.
    • Strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Relevant security certifications (Security+, CompTIA Network+, etc.).
    • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell).
