Immediate High School P.E./Health Teacher
Job Description
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks to add capacity to our team with an additional physical education and health teacher. The P.E/Health teacher would instruct classes of 9th - 12th grade students. As the school grows, the teacher would instruct students across multiple grade levels and/or sections, and ideally run a club or enrichment block.
We are committed to providing a quality physical education and health program that will complement our rigorous academic program. This position will work closely with the electives department. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.
Please note the location of Bold City High School is the McDuff campus located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North.
OUR CURRENT MODEL
The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added and the model is subject to change. Students have block schedules. Elective teachers may have a homeroom and will teach several classes in their department in addition to a club or enrichment block. Every student will be required to take one credit of physical education that incorporates health.
Any electives are selected by the school leader according to student interest and teacher certification area(s). Foreign language and elective teachers should apply through a separate posting.

Our current compensation and benefits structure is competitive and is commensurate with experience.
Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesn’t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our first year of paying out millage stipends, non-certified New-to-KIPP staff received an additional $3700. Certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff received an additional $7,000. Certified staff also received TSIA stipends this year. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Physical Education K-12 and Health K-12
At least one complete year of teaching secondary Physical Education with experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more years of secondary school physical education experience
Experience with the H.O.P.E. program in Florida
