The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in both court proceedings and USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) processes. We are a small but growing Immigration law firm seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to work ad hoc on a case-by-case basis. We want to be known for helping clients come out of a highly emotional process, feeling they are a better person, in a better position, and that they had a team behind them that cared and fought for them. We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced paralegal to play an important role on our legal team. You'll draft legal documents such as affidavits, prepare briefs, conduct legal research for trial preparation, and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. [For example SMITH paralegal AWESOME] Responsibilities: • Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses • Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible • Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews Roles and Responsibilities of a Family Law Paralegal As a Family Law Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and clients through various family law matters. Your responsibilities will include: • Draft and prepare legal documents such as petitions, motions, pleadings, judgments, and declarations. • Organize and manage case files, ensuring all documents are filed correctly and timely. • Assist in the preparation of discovery documents and responses. • Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy. • Investigate and gather facts relevant to cases, including interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. • Summarize and analyze legal documents and research findings for attorney review. • Prepare and file court documents, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines. • Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and other court-related activities. • Assist attorneys during trials and hearings, including organizing exhibits and managing case files. • Assist in maintaining attorney calendars, scheduling appointments, and managing deadlines. • Provide general support to attorneys and other staff as needed. • Provide clients with guidance on procedural steps and document requirements. • Support Legal assistant and Junior Paralegals. • Ensure all activities comply with legal and ethical standards. • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and case details. Qualifications: • Strong oral and written communication skills • 3+ years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting • ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired • Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education Compensation: $35 - $40 hourly
