Job Title: Inclement Weather Operations Support Salary: $17-18/hr Location: Oregon City, OR Benefits: Sick time Hours: Part-time, overnight, on-call dependent upon severe weather
Summary
The primary duties of the Inclement Weather Shelter Operation support staff involve ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with morning routines. Staff are required to stay awake and alert during overnight hours. This position requires strong communication skills, especially in dealing with clients who require extra assistance or may be in crisis. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy and a calm and professional demeanor in potentially stressful situations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Remain awake and alert throughout the night.
Maintain cleanliness of the building, including common areas.
Assist with daily tasks, including meal preparation, cleaning, and personal hygiene support.
Monitor and address any client concerns or disruptions; if necessary contact behavioral health for support.
Wake all clients in the morning and assist with morning routines.
Set up and break down shelter (tables, mats, coffee, etc)
Education and/or Experience
Experience in shelter work is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, mental health, or crisis intervention is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is a physically active position requiring the ability to stoop and bend regularly, and lift up to 25 lbs. Fast-paced, emotionally demanding setting that requires flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to handle stressful situations. Non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as the shelter operates overnight during inclement weather. Safety protocols are in place to ensure the well-being of both staff and residents.
