    Position Summary

    Independence Community College is seeking a full-time Title III Project Coordinator to co-lead a five -year Title III grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. The Title III Grant cycle runs from October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2026, and focuses on improving student outcomes utilizing focus-based student learning, and enhancements in the classroom and technology.

    Position Information

    This position is a full-time 12-month position fully funded through the Title III Grant.

    The Title III Project Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and conducting Supplemental Instructor (SI) sessions for qualified students. Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program designed to help students navigate difficult coursework with the overall goal of helping students gain a deeper understanding of course content by providing study skills and teaching them time management strategies.

    ICC will begin the implementation of Supplemental Instruction (SI) in English and College Algebra courses but will eventually include English Composition I, General Psychology, College Algebra II, English Composition II, Public Speaking, Introduction to Sociology, Composition Concepts and Applications, Music Appreciation, General Biology, and College Success.

    The Title III Project Coordinator will report to the Title III Project Director.

    Primary Responsibilities

    · Develop, design, implement Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions for assigned courses

    · Schedule Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions with students

    · Plan Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions using a wide variety of interactive learning strategies (without reteaching, lecturing, or completing students’ assignments for them) in alignment with the course instructors

    · Prepare handouts, informal quizzes, and other learning aids for Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions

    · Actively recruit participants for Supplemental Instructor (SI) sessions

    · Conduct Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions with students

    · Oversee study groups

    · Monitor student progress and provide progress reports to the Academic Success Center

    · Build relationships with ICC Faculty, to understand course requirements and maintain contact with course professor throughout the course team

    · Attend regular targeted classes and take notes to facilitate Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions

    · Attend monthly SI leader training meetings

    · Assist in the preparation of end‐of‐term reports and other reports as requested

    · Always maintain a professional attitude, including that toward matters such as class standards, grades, and student complaints

    · Must maintain prompt and good attendance

    · Assist with the ERP Transition, as needed

    · Other job duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    · Bachelor’s degree required

    · Good written and presentation skills

    · Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

    · Ability to work with students, faculty, staff, administration, and outside agencies

    · Self-motivation; accountable, and able to provide leadership

    · Demonstrated ability to diagnose and develop solutions to complex problems required

    · Excellent computer skills and technical expertise when managing projects and knowledge of Excel or statistical analysis software; and desire to learn new technologies

    · Ability to work a flexible schedule to include office hours as well as potential extended hours and weekends required, some travel required

    · Demonstrated experience in providing quality customer service, patience, high energy, enthusiasm for helping others and a positive attitude, even in stressful situations and peak times; and

    · Ability to multi-task effectively managing simultaneous projects while working in a high pressure, fast paced and frequently changing environment required

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

    Work is typically performed in a normal office environment with various committee members and departments.

    Basic level of learned physical skill is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Minimum physical exertion is required.

    Salary Range

    $40,000/year - $49,000/year (depending on experience)
