Construction Manager/Construction Engineer (Ohio, USA) (Duration: 9-10 months) (Independent Contractor)
K2 Management is currently seeking an experienced PE Licensed Construction Manager/Construction Engineer to be the on-site owner representative for an onshore wind farm construction site located in Ohio (United States). The project construction is anticipated to be ongoing for 9-10 months through closeout and handover to commercial operation. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight (8) years as an experienced Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Professional Engineer.
Areas of responsibility:
This role requires strong leadership skills, quality assurance, and preferably expertise in onshore wind project Balance of Plant (BOP) construction including Wind Turbine Generators (WTG’s) installation and commissioning. As the Owners Representative on site, you will act on the Owners’ behalf for all site-related matters and provide the necessary liaison and coordination between the Project Manager and WTG and EPC contractors.
. In this role, you will:
· Work with the Project Manager to provide Construction Management: Coordination, review, and administration of all project documentation, contracts, suppliers, schedules, costs, and processes.
· Supervise a small team of quality and safety inspectors.
· Monitor the project schedule and progress against WTG and EPC contractors’ schedules and assist with planning and interfacing activities to limit the impact of any program deviations.
· Coordinate interfaces with the grid operator, transmission provider, and Contractor providing interconnection and other facilities.
· Review proposed change orders submitted by WTG OEM and the EPC Contractor and provide recommendations to the Owner
· Ensure contractors and other personnel on-site adherence and compliance with HSE standards
· Ensure assurance of overall construction quality in accordance with designs and specifications.
· Coordinate with local, state, federal, and tribal authorities regarding gris interconnection, zoning, permitting, environmental and archaeological preservation, logistics, and public safety.
· Perform constructability reviews and site inspections.
· Manage and coordinate owner-furnished materials, including procurement, logistics, deliveries including proper storage for both large and small components.
· Develop and deliver high-quality, accurate project close-out documents.
· Sustain positive public relations with AHJ’s, landowners, communities, and all stakeholders.
Oversee reviews of equipment fabrication and construction quality of work, QA/QC documentation, inspection reports, etc. Oversee compliance with industry regulations.
Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders, including the client, contractors, and regulatory bodies while adhering to budgetary and time constraints.
Qualifications:
B.S. in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with eight (8) years of professional experience from a similar position within the renewable industry. (onshore wind preferably).
Holds an active and in good standing Professional Engineer License issued by the State Board for Professional Engineers.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
Good organizational and administrative skills and a structured working approach.
Experienced user of Word and Excel software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Proactive, self-motivated, and dedicated to delivering high-quality work. Willing to support multiple teams and flexibility to support varying day-to-day business tasks.
Structured, analytical, and eye for details while at the same time able to take a high-level view of the situation.
High ethical standards are required as well as a dedicated team player with diplomatic skills and a high level of integrity.
