Industrial Hygiene Technician 2
Starting Hourly/Salary Rate: Hourly @ $20.00-$24.00 per hour
Estimated Annual Compensation: $44,600-$53,520
Arch Environmental Group is seeking an outgoing, self-motivated, hard-working and committed person to join and grow with our group of environmental professionals on the healthAIR Team. The healthAIR Team is a leading provider of asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality, and mold and biological consulting services, as well as a wide variety of industrial hygiene services, to our clients throughout the State of Michigan. The position of Industrial Technician 2 assists Project Consultants with project management, sampling, and site inspections. An Industrial Technician 2 will develop and learn the skills needed to complete site inspections, prepare reports, assist with AHERA management activities, manage and document projects and communicate with Clients and healthAIR Team members.
Key Project Activities
Asbestos project management, air monitoring and air sample analysis.
AHERA management plan updates and field inspections/activities.
Asbestos site inspections and bulk sampling activities.
Lead air monitoring activities.
Assist with various other team projects.
Responsibilities
Complete project in a safe, compliant, and timely manner.
Conduct asbestos project management and air monitoring activities.
Prepare and analyze asbestos air samples.
Conduct periodic asbestos reviews and inspections as required by the AHERA regulation.
Accurately record project information and sample data for reporting purposes.
Work with Project Consultants to handle other team-wide projects.
Meet deadlines established by the team and Client.
Complete periodic quality assurance/quality control activities for asbestos air sampling.
Maintain and calibrate equipment.
Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings and discuss safety related issues for upcoming personal and team assignments.
Attend and participate in monthly safety and professional development training and discuss team and company project activities.
Efficiently and accurately detail job performance details, including, but not limited to, billable and non-billable activities on a daily basis, submit expense receipts and record mileage related to business travel.
Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on position growth and development, Client need and Company goals and objectives for growth and services offered.
Experience, Academic Requirements, Qualifications
1-2 years of experience dealing with asbestos project management and/or inspections/surveys.
Bachelor’s degree in science-related discipline preferred.
Working knowledge of asbestos regulations and professional standards
Working knowledge of field equipment, calibrations and maintenance of asbestos equipment.
Daily field project management experience for asbestos projects.
Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products, primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Possession of any of the following certifications or accreditations preferred:
NIOSH 7400 Methodology Certification
State of Michigan Accredited Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner
State of Michigan Accredited Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor

Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.
Ability and desire to work in the field with varying hours and shifts.
A willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs.
Desire to learn and grow in the environmental consulting field.
Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required to complete projects.
Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in southeastern Michigan, but occasionally throughout the state.
Position Conditions:
Candidate must pass a medical surveillance that includes drug screening and respiratory function testing in order to operate in respirator-controlled environments.
Physical capability to wear a respirator for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to occasionally 50 pounds.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Personal vehicle use for travel to/from project site is expected.
