  • Responsibilities

    Weld Spec, an HMT Company, is looking for Part-time Industrial Insulators, in the Beaumont, TX area , who will be responsible for ensuring that jobs in the field are performed efficiently, safely, and in a quality manner. This job is for a turnaround for 2 weeks (14 days), 12-hour day shifts and 12-hour nights available.

    Insulators will be responsible for applying insulation supports, insulating materials and surface claddings and coatings to pipes, vessels, tanks, ductwork, and associated equipment or other mechanical systems to control heat loss or gain, provide personnel protection, frost protection and maintain temperature, and/or provide noise control and fire protection.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
    • Remove or seal off old insulation, following safety procedures.
    • Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
    • Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use.
    • Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
    • Apply, remove, and repair insulation, thermal and fire, on industrial and domestic equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, pipework and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
    • Select appropriate insulation, thermal and fire, such as mineral wool, fiberglass, foams, Perlite, Calcium Silicate or other materials based on the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material.
    • Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
    • Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with covers of metallic or nonmetallic, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.
    • Working with tools and machinery used in the trade.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Experienced insulators (at least 4years experience) preferably NCCER certified.
    • Must have your own tools
    • Knowledge of insulation materials
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • Fabricate on demand
    • Organizational skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Time management skills
    • Communication skills
    • Ability to work in confined spaces

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, climb, carry, pushing/pulling. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 50 pounds. Hearing and seeing ability of rapid mental coordination. It is required to be mentally alert for the entirety of shift.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This position may work in various locations within the U.S. Some locations may be subject to extreme temperatures, working in high places, etc. Potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, fumes/odors, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with pressurized equipment, high places, hazardous materials, and working alone. HMT will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job.
