Job Summary
We are seeking an Infant Teacher Assistant to join our team! Our Infant Teacher Assistant will be willing to interact with our youngest students with passion and energy, and display age-appropriate teaching methods. Infant care and instruction is best done through lots of high energy play, and our teacher will be willing to sing, be silly, and be an active participant in the classroom. You will be assisting a class of young children age 6 weeks to 24 months, assessing their current developmental levels, and providing care to meet their needs on-demand throughout the day.
Responsibilities
Be able to have fun, sing songs, and be silly! An infant teacher should be high energy and be willing to be on-the-go throughout the day.
Teach beginning language and cognitive academic skills through play
Assist children with developing social and emotional skills with patience and grace
Use a range of instructional methods, learning techniques, and age-appropriate classroom management methods
Communicate with parents and other school personnel
Change diapers, feed with bottles, baby food, etc.
Maintain a safe, clean environment that is conducive for learning and free exploration
Assess student's skills and performance using DRDP methods to ensure they are meeting developmental milestones
Previous knowledge of DRDP assessments preferred, but not required
Qualifications
A minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood Education units, including 3 units of Infant and Toddler Development preferred but not required - as an assistant we do expect that you will be working on completing ECE units to eventually become a fully qualified teacher
Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Problem-solving and mediation skills, age-appropriate classroom management skills
